The community is named after Dr. Philip Phillips, a prominent businessman who
purchased thousands of acres of land in the area during the early 20th century. Dr.
Phillips was involved in the citrus industry and became one of Florida's most successful
citrus magnates.
Dr. Phillips is situated in southwestern Orange County, Florida, approximately 12 miles
southwest of downtown Orlando. It is bordered by the city of Windermere to the north,
Bay Hill to the east, and the city of Celebration to the south.
